● Solid Mix Foundation: Ensure your mix is well-balanced with issues fixed before mastering. Aim to leave around 6 dB of headroom in your mix to allow space for mastering adjustments without distortion. Use a high pass filter during mixing to remove unnecessary low-end rumble or muddiness
● Strategic EQ Balancing: Enhance the mid-range where Lo-fi thrives. Gently roll off excessive highs, perhaps around 15 kHz, to maintain a warm vintage sound. Consider cutting frequencies around 200 to 300 Hz to clean up low-mid muddiness while preserving warmth.
● Limiting and Loudness: Apply a limiter as the final step to increase overall volume without distortion. Aim for a loudness level around minus 14 LUFS for streaming platforms like Spotify, allowing your track to breathe rather than aiming for commercial loudness levels
